Apple’s debut foldable suffers hardware and software glitches
Apple Inc.’s newly released foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is facing an unfavorable start amid early user complaints over hardware defects and software incompatibility. Following its official release on Oct. 23, the iPhone Duo has drawn criticism from early buyers who reported cracked hinges and damaged screens. On the software front, users found that several applications could not display in full-screen mode when their iPhone Duo phones were unfolded. Developers are accelerating updates, with apps like QQ Music, Weibo and Alipay already confirming compatibility, while others such as Baidu Maps remain unadapted. Despite these early hiccups, consumer demand remains robust. IDC forecasts that Apple’s foldable shipments will surpass 17 million units by 2027, capturing about 40% of the global foldable phone market.
