A TikTok influencer has been forced to apologise to her followers after receiving backlash from a viral video. Katylee Bailey shared a video with her 2.8 million fans where she revealed she had bought her own home mortgage free at the age of just 21.
In the TikTok video, which has now amassed 4.1 million views, the young social media star popped a bottle of confetti as she shared her impressive milestone. But whilst Katylee called it the 'biggest achievement of her life', she was soon hit with criticism from online trolls.
Her comments were quickly flooded with backlash, with many attacking the influencer for sharing the news whilst others are not so fortunate amid the cost of living crisis.

One TikTok user commented: "Lucky you here I am paying 2 grand in rent every month because I am not eligible for a mortgage despite working 40 hours a week."
Whilst another wrote: "And I can't even afford to buy myself a dairy milk bar from the Co-op."
"Well done but it's crazy to me that people work, saving throughout their lives and will probably work till their 70 to pay off the mortgage," said another.
After reading the comments, Katylee then posted a tearful follow-up where she apologised for the initial video, reports The Mirror.
Struggling to hold back tears, she said: "I just wanted to come on here to say that I'm sorry to anyone who feels like I'm bragging about the house thing.
"Yes, the system is absolutely f***ed, I will never get my head around the fact that I've become so lucky."
In the TikTok, which is over two minutes long, Katylee then shared that she had not grown up with money so had never dreamed of owning a home and insisted that she 'does actually work'.
Now her fans have responded with an outpouring of support for the young influencer.
Many praised Katylee, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, for investing her money - one comment said: "That is unbelievable, so many 'influencers' just buy designer bags, flashy cars but you really set yourself up for life amazing Katy!"
Another added: "Congratulations Katy - I wish you all the best in your new home." While others flooded her comments with "well done" and other positive sentiment."
Fellow influencer Miriam Mullins commented: "You deserve it so much Katylee. You've clearly worked so hard to get to where you are & should be so proud of yourself. It’s just jealous people."
Katylee never intended to make a career out of TikTok, instead posting videos as "as a bit of fun". But she now earns up to £1,000 per video, according to The Telegraph and Argus. She has quit university and is now a full time content creator.
