A teenager was left devastated after being excluded from her school debs despite paying €580 for a dress.
The 15-year-old was said to be in tears when she was told she wouldn't be allowed to attend her school's leaving do alongside fellow pupils.
But the principal of North Durham Academy in England has defended the decision, saying the Year 11 pupil did not meet the criteria.
