Tearful Patrick Bamford suffers another injury blow as Leeds United striker limps off at Wolves

Leeds United have been dealt yet another injury blow after Patrick Bamford limped off in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening. The 28-year-old was making just his second start since returning from a long-term absence, but could now be out once again.

Bamford appeared to have an ankle issue after he went down after stretching for a pass in the 21st minute and was replaced by Sam Greenwood. Television showed a clearly upset and tearful Bamford on the bench, with his skipper Liam Cooper's arm around him.

The Whites had started the game well with the England international leading the line. He almost gave the Whites the lead, latching onto Daniel James' pass before sliding the ball just past the post.

However, something the Leeds supporters wouldn't have wanted to see was Bamford going down. He has had a torrid time with injuries this season after initially suffering an ankle issue in the 1-1 draw at Newcastle United back in September.

This injury had kept Bamford out for almost three months, before he made his return to action against Brentford. He went on to score the equaliser, latching on to Raphinha's cross. But it was revealed that the former Chelsea striker had suffered a hamstring problem in the celebration, ruling him out for another three months.

It has been a disastrous season for Bamford and he could yet be due another spell on the sidelines. Jesse Marsch is likely to give a further update in his post-Wolves press conference.
