Team USA Paralympians are experiencing a new level of training and support at the High Performance Center (HPC) in Eaubonne, a suburb located 10 miles north of Paris. This state-of-the-art facility, previously exclusive to Olympic athletes, is now catering to Paralympians as well, marking a significant upgrade in their preparation for the Games.
The HPC, which underwent a 27 million euros renovation, offers top-notch amenities including dormitories, sports medicine facilities, and training centers. This investment aims to provide approximately 1,200 athletes with a conducive environment for training and recovery during their time in Paris.
Exclusive access to the compound allows Paralympians to train on their own schedule, avoiding logistical challenges faced by athletes residing in the Paralympic Village. The facility's size and resources offer Team USA athletes a competitive edge, enabling them to focus on their training without external distractions.
Moreover, the HPC mirrors the Colorado Springs facility in terms of services provided, such as nutrition specialists, kinesthesiology services, and sports psychologists. This consistency in support aims to create a familiar and stable training regimen for the athletes, enhancing their performance on the global stage.
While some Paralympians have yet to fully utilize the HPC, the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee is looking ahead to the 2028 Los Angeles Games with plans to increase engagement and encourage all athletes to take full advantage of the center's resources. The goal is to provide comprehensive support to Paralympians and ensure they have the tools needed to excel in their respective sports.
As the Paralympic Games unfold in Paris, Team USA Paralympians are making the most of their time at the High Performance Center, leveraging the world-class facilities and services to elevate their performance and represent their country with pride.
