Team Conor McGregor fighter knocked out in 8 seconds in The Ultimate Fighter first episode

The first of Team Conor McGregor's fighters in action on the new series of The Ultimate Fighter was knocked out in just eight seconds.

Prospect Nate Jennerman suffered a devastating defeat at the hands of former UFC fighter Roosevelt Roberts, who previously fought seven times in the promotion, winning three of those bouts.

McGregor had predicted his fighter would "make it ugly", but the Wisconsin native was caught early on in the bout and it was all over before he knew it.

Jennerman pleaded with the referee that he was okay to continue, but it was clear that he was in no fit state to do so.

Roberts, fighting for Michael Chandler's team, landed two one-two combinations, with the second right flooring Jennerman before two hammerfists forced referee Mark Smith to stop the contest.

UFC President Dana White, who was sitting cageside for the bout, said it was "one of the fastest knockouts in TUF history", adding that it was a "massive win" for the 29-year-old.

Speaking to his fighter following the defeat, McGregor said: "We're still all here with you Nate. You get back to the gym. Don't worry about anything, just get back to the gym."

A clearly devastated Jennerman fought back tears as he spoke to the cameras following the loss, saying: "I feel like I didn't even get to fight. I just got clipped and didn't even get to show myself out here. Right now I'm just kind of down in myself."
