The team behind one of Cardiff's most popular bars is set to open a new lounge bar very soon. The curators of Kongs on St Mary Street is opening a lounge bar in the heart of the city centre later this month.
The Underdog is set to open its doors on Guildhall Place on May 18 for a soft opening, with the venue opening officially on May 19. The bar is set to serve simple cocktails, New York style pizza and selection of beer. The latest addition to Cardiff's nightlife scene will be open between Wednesday and Sunday from 4pm and features neon lights decorating the venue as well as pool tables.

The bar promises 80s nostalgia and will be serving West Pizza by the slice as well as whole. The Underdog will also have a happy hour every day between 4pm and 7pm.
It's set to play a range of music including 90s house, hip hop, disco, funk, and more, with DJs every Friday and Saturday from 9pm until late. The new bar has taken over the site of Kongs Level Two, which has now been transformed into The Underdog.
Level 2 was previously a multi-purpose venue for the bar, which has now been open for five years, and featured table tennis, foosball, and arcade machines. Kongs posted on Instagram back in early April to say that they were "say[ing] goodbye" to their event space.
