The team behind Neapolitan pizza project I Knead Pizza have opened a neighbourhood spot in Heaton Chapel. Called The Burbs, playing on its suburban location, the doors are now open for its ‘Italian tapas’ menu.
The menu will feature small plate dishes of Italian classics like aubergine parmigiana and arancini, before heading into pasta dishes and risottos. They will also be serving pizza on the menu too.

But the plan is to change up the menu over the year, taking in different cuisines as they go. “It’s currently Italian Tapas, all small plates,” said owner Paul Corrigan. “The menu and offering will change throughout the year including the food origin. The idea is dishes from suburbs around the world.”
Also on the menu for the time being will be dishes like pappardelle with beef ragu, chicken in a creamy wild mushroom sauce, fritto misto, gamberoni and mussels. They also plan to start serving weekend brunch too.
Paul and business partner Michael started the pizza business in 2015, running it out of a trailer before getting their first premises in Reddish. They doubled their takeaway capacity over lockdown, and also opened a spot at Hatch on Oxford Road.
The Burbs has taken over the former site of Donatello’s in Heaton Chapel, which had traded as an Italian restaurant and pizzeria for 30 years. They're open Wednesday to Sunday, and are taking bookings here.
