A teacher has hit out at a parent for giving their twin children 'ridiculous' near-identical names.
The substitute teacher took to social media to vent her frustrations after teaching twin female pupils named Selene and Selina. Taking to Reddit, she questioned: "Anyone else ever come across an equally ridiculous sib set?"
But, according to comments, it is common for parents to give twins similar-sounding names.
As reported in the Mirror, one reply read: "My husband went to school with twins named Chris & Christopher." A second said: "My dad knows twins his age named Rick/Ricky and Richard." And someone else revealed: "I went to school with identical twins named Kelly and Kellen."

While it was not clear if all responders liked the names they shared, several did debate the merits of similar monikers.
Someone else wrote: "I know twins with the same name same spelling, no joke. Both Leonardo. She loved the name and had it picked out and had SURPRISE twins… just rolled with the same name still. Different middle names and mercifully the second at least go by the middle name but what.
"Logistical nightmare. She is the loveliest and best neighbour but that part about her (grown) twin boys is a head-scratcher for sure lol," someone wrote," they added.
Another said: "As a twin mum, names like these make my teeth itch."
"As a twin mum, I’m right there with you…" another parent agreed.
