Teacher Bronwen James guilty of having sexual activity with 16-year-old pupil

  • Former PE teacher Bronwen James, 30, has been found guilty at Winchester Crown Court of three counts of sexual activity with a 16-year-old pupil.
  • The jury deliberated for 12 hours before convicting James over offences involving a student at Bitterne Park School in Southampton , while clearing her of one count.
  • The court heard James flirted with the boy in class and exchanged Snapchat messages before driving him to her home where they had sex.
  • In a police interview, the pupil stated he felt he had been groomed by James, who asked him to call her Miss when they were alone together.
  • The relationship was exposed when another student showed a teacher sexually-charged text messages sent between the defendant and the victim.
