Teacher banned from pruning her own 72ft tree despite fears it could crush her Darlington home

A primary school teacher has been refused permission to prune the 72ft tree which towers over her home even though it is growing out of control in her own garden.

Celia Senior, 57, is worried that the huge lime tree could fall on top of her three-bedroom detached property if left untreated. She and husband Mark, 58, moved into the house in Brompton Walk, Darlington in 2007 after paying £195,000 for the property.

She says the tree, which is on the couple's land, was around 30ft tall but it has grown by more than 2ft each year. The whopping tree is now more than twice the height of their home and Celia says it's making their lives a misery.
