The former New England Patriots tight end, who was widely considered a bust signing by coach Bill Belichick, is already close to surpassing the total receiving yards he had with the Patriots in 2022, only four games into the season.
Buy Patriots TicketsIn fact, his 179 receiving yards with his new team, the Atlanta Falcons, surpasses the yard totals of every tight end and receiver currently on the Patriots’ roster.
Smith is obviously a talented player that somehow didn’t work out in New England, but then again, not many do this day and age considering the constant passing struggles for the Patriots’ offense.
That isn’t to say everything is all hunky-dory in Falcon land, either. They have struggled to get tight end Kyle Pitts, who is easily one of the most athletic offensive players in the NFL, more involved on the field.

But that still doesn’t take away from the fact that they are utilizing Smith better than the Patriots in the two seasons he spent in New England. It’s even more daunting that Smith’s success right out of the gates shines an even bigger light on just how bad things have been offensively for the Patriots.
