TCL announces new Mini LED TVs and Dolby Atmos soundbars at CES 2024

TCL Q6.

CES 2024 is finally here, and with it comes a bevy of announcements. Courtesy of TV manufacturer TCL, there's a lot to look forward to in 2024 with new S Class and Q Class TVs and soundbars that run the gamut in terms of tech.

Starting with TCL's value-focused S Class, the S5 line is getting updated. These TVs are set to be available in 43-inch to 85-inch sizes, incorporate 'High Brightness LED Backlights' for more brightness and better coloring, and feature a new AIPQ processor with AI Super Resolution tech.

You're also getting HDR10+ and Dolby Vision on the S5. On the audio side, S5s come with a new Enhanced Dialog Mode as well as a Center Channel Mode for an easy way to make sure audio comes through clear. The S5 also is TCL's first S Class TV to get custom install capabilities for wider application support.

TCL's premium Q Class of TVs is getting major updates, too. The QLED Q6 line is being refreshed; a new Q6 Pro line is being introduced; a new Mini LED QM7 line is being added; and the flagship Mini LED QM8 line is getting a refresh.

On top of all that, TCL's also announced a 115-inch Mini LED TV with 20,000 dimming zones and 5000 nits, the 115QM89. TCL has also suggested that certain TVs, like the 115QM89, might be coming to the UK as well as the US.

The QLED Q6 line spans across 43-inch to 98-inch sizes, comes with a 'High brightness Plus LED Backlight' for better brightness, and has a Game Accelerator feature that enables fast-paced 120Hz VRR gaming. 85-inch and larger Q6s have a native 120Hz refresh rate with Game Accelerator working up to 240Hz VRR.

The new Q6 Pro line comes in 50-inch to 85-inch sizes and has all the features of the Q6 range, but you're getting full array local dimming and, according to TCL, up to "33% more brightness with 600 peak nits" of brightness, too. The Q6 Pros also have hands-free voice control, backlit remotes, and adjustable feet.

Mini LED QM7 TVs are also coming, and they go from 55-inch to 98-inch sizes. These feature 'High Zone QD Mini LED' tech with up 1500 individual zones as well as 'High Brightness ULTRA LED Backlights' that offer up a peak brightness of 2400 nits. You're also getting the AIPQ PRO processor with the QM7 line.

On top of the above, QM7 TVs sport native 120Hz refresh rates, VRR, Game Accelerator 240, HDR with Dolby Vision IQ, and 2.1c speaker systems with built-in subwoofers as well as the IMAX Enhanced certification.

The flagship Mini LED QM8 line isn't being left out of the update fun, either. The QM8 line goes from 65-inches to 98-inches; packs in 'QD Mini LED ULTRA' tech for 'Ultra High Zone Dimming' with up to 5000 individual zones; and has 'High Brightness ULTIMATE LED Backlights' that top out at 5000 nits.

The QM8 line otherwise has all the features of QM7 TVs but adds an anti-glare screen, a 2.1.2c speaker system with Dolby Atmos support, and Wi-Fi 6.

For S Class soundbars, TCL is introducing the S45H and S55H. The S45H is a 2.0c Dolby Atmos soundbar with a built-in bass reflex port, DTS Virtual:X support, and new features like Auto Room Calibration and Center Channel Mode. The S55H is a 2.1c Dolby Atmos soundbar that sports the same features as the S45H but instead switches out the bass reflex port for an included wireless subwoofer.

For Q Class soundbars, TCL has the Q75H, and Q85H. The Q75H is a 5.1.2c Dolby Atmos soundbar that has all the features of the S55H as well as 'Ray-Danz Acoustic Wave-Guide Reflectors' that direct sound across the entire width of a room. You're also getting a center channel speaker alongside built-in tweeters, up-firing Atmos speakers, and side surround speakers.

The Q85H is a 7.1.4c Dolby Atmos soundbar that steps up from the Q75H by adding wireless rear up-firing Dolby Atmos speakers. Otherwise, you'll get all the same features you get with the Q75H, just with a little extra.
