JAIPUR: A 21-day Tuberculosis (TB)-free campaign will be launched to create awareness, screening, treatment and counselling services from March 24.
On World Tuberculosis Day (March 22), National Health Mission (NHM) state mission director Jitendra Kumar Soni announced that the campaign is aimed at preventing spread, its treatment and diagnosis.
Soni said for making country TB-free by 2025, the state government is also playing its role and working on a plan. If efforts are made at the individual and community level with the government, the state will soon become TB-free.
Incentives will also be given to TB patients to encourage them to continue taking treatment. The bank account details of TB patients will be uploaded on the NIKSHAY portal and all patients will be paid the prescribed amount in their bank account under the NIKSHAY nutrition scheme, TB champions will be identified in villages who will play a major role in removing the misconceptions about the disease in society under the eradication programme. During the campaign, counseling sessions will be organised for people, community participation will be ensured and various other activities like gram sabha, Jan Arogya Samiti meeting, wellness session for TB patients, poster competition etc will be organised for TB awareness.
Experts at the event said TB was a contagious disease and can also spread through droplets. For eradication of TB, it is important to get tested as soon as symptoms appear. tnn
