It was an eventful Sunday for New Orleans Saints fans, and not without some impressive accomplishments. Most notably, Saints football player Taysom Hill became the first player since Frank Gifford to score 10 rushing, receiving and passing touchdowns in his career. That achievement speaks to how versatile Hill has been since entering the league.
But that wasn’t the only achievement he accomplished this week. Hill, also, became just the sixth player since 2000 to be a team’s leading rusher while scoring a receiving and passing touchdown in the same game.
Prior to Hill, only Christian McCaffrey, Cam Newton, Josh Allen, LaDainian Tomlinson and Curtis Martin had pulled this off. Hill ran for 52 yards and had the most rushing attempts on the team. He then scored New Orleans’ final two touchdowns of the game, catching a pass from Derek Carr in the end zone and throwing one of his own to Juwan Johnson (with an assist from Khalen Saunders). It was only the second time in Hill’s career he scored a receiving or rushing touchdown in the same game he threw a touchdown pass. It goes to show how unique a talent he is for the New Orleans offense.
