Taylor Wimpey North East raises money to support Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen

North East homebuilder Taylor Wimpey has raised money for Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen, to provide much-needed support at this time of year.

Taylor Wimpey North East is a division of Taylor Wimpey PLC which is committed to delivering new homes to thriving communities. It aims to work in a safe and environmentally friendly manner and works across 23 regional businesses in the UK. In 2021 it delivered 14,087 homes and put £418 million to local communities.

Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen is located near Taylor Wimpey’s Burdon Fields development. The soup kitchen is made up solely of volunteers who provide meals for people in need across Sunderland, every day of the week.

Andrea Bell, Founder of Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen has given her thanks to the business. “We really appreciate all of Taylor Wimpey’s support during the last year," she said.

"With more people relying on the soup kitchen coupled with the rise in the cost of living, Taylor Wimpey’s support has been invaluable and will allow us to continue to provide comforting and nutritious meals to those in need over the Christmas period."

The Burdon Fields development next to the soup kitchen in Ryhope is the next big project in the area. It will have 2, 3 and 4 bedroom homes just a short distance away from Seaham.

Sarah Northcott, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey North East, spoke about her pride to be contributing to the soup kitchen. She said: “With everyone feeling the effects of the cost of living crisis, organisations such as Sunderland Community Soup Kitchen are as important within local communities as they have ever been.

“We are really proud to be supporting such a worthy cause, and we hope that the money raised by our team and items donated will go a long way to support the community this Christmas.”
