Country Taylor Swift is so back y’all and it’s all thanks to Pixar and Toy Story 5.
The new track, “I Knew It, I Knew You”, dropped today and it’s already doing what Taylor Swift songs tend to do best, making everyone go bonkers!
When PEDESTRIAN.TV spoke to Joan Cusack (aka Jessie, queen of our childhood trauma), she was just as hyped about the Swift of it all as the rest of us.
“Isn’t that exciting?” she said, lighting up immediately when we asked her about the feature.
It is Joan! It is!!!
Cusack added that Swift’s involvement isn’t just a fun cameo moment either — it’s something that genuinely adds to the film’s reach.
“Well, I just thought it’s so great because so many more people will get to see the movie ‘cos they’ll be excited about her too,” she said.
“And it’s a great movie, it’s a great girl movie, and it’s so great that she supported it.”
I need a music video with Joan and Taylor immediately, if not sooner please and thank you!
@taylorswift Writing this song felt like a musical departure and coming home at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once. And being a Toy Story kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond. “I Knew It, I Knew You” from Toy Story 5 is out everywhere now. 🤠🐴

Swift herself seemed just as emotional about the collab, sharing on Instagram that writing the song felt like “a musical departure and coming home at the same time”.
She added, “Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature all at once.”
If you grew up on Toy Story (and, let’s be real, most of us did), her caption reads like a love letter to that entire universe. “Being a @toystory kid from the age of 5 til now… is an adventure I plan to be on, to infinity and beyond.”
The “Mirrorball” singer teamed up with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff for the track, while giving a nod to Randy Newman, who basically is the musical identity of Toy Story at this point.
Yes “When She Loved Me” is on my crying playlist!
As for the song itself, it leans into that soft, nostalgic storytelling Swift does in her sleep. Think: childhood memories, long-lost connections, and that very specific ache of seeing someone again after years apart. Lines like “I memorised the sound of your bare footsteps / Running wild, it’s been a long time” set the tone early, and it only gets more emo, yet somehow joyful and hopeful from there. I don’t know how she does it!
Naturally, the internet has been completely normal about all of this:

Jessie deserved a Taylor Swift song and the universe finally delivered. Toy Story kids, we won. 🤠✨ #ToyStory5

And that’s kind of the vibe across the board. People are hearing echoes of her earlier sound, but filtered through a more reflective, cinematic lens that fits right into the Toy Story universe.
We don’t know exactly how the song plays out in the film yet, but based on Cusack’s reaction and the lyrics alone, it’s safe to assume tissues will be required.
Toy Story 5 is set to hit cinemas on June 18.
