Taylor Swift set to become most awarded artist in MTV VMAs history with inaugural honor

Taylor Swift is set to rewrite the record books once more. At Sunday’s 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, the pop star will accept the first Artist Director Honors, establishing her as the most decorated performer in the event's history.

Swift is currently tied with Beyoncé for the most VMA wins overall, sitting at 30 trophies each, while Eminem holds the male record with 15. The new prize—intended to celebrate creators "whose work behind the camera has expanded the possibilities of music video and advanced the art of visual storytelling"—will raise her lifetime total to 31.
