Taylor Swift's unreleased songs from her teenage years include dark stories about death, grief and troubled relationships, according to Emily Yahr's forthcoming biography.

Taylor Swift: The Debut Years is due to be published on Oct. 6, shortly before the 20th anniversary of Swift's self-titled debut album. Yahr, a Washington Post entertainment reporter, examines Swift's formative years in Nashville and her development as a songwriter.
