It’s December, so we are totally in the full swing of the most important time of the year: Hallmark movie season. Sure, the holidays themselves are fine, but there’s not much better than a crisp 120-minute flick featuring a handsome man with a chiseled jaw and a woman that you’re pretty sure was in a teen show in the late 90s.
We all know (and love) the tropes. Usually she is a busy woman from the city with a job in marketing or journalism or public relations. She has no time for your Christmas nonsense, there are too many projects to finish, and she thinks her businessman boyfriend is definitely going to propose.
He is usually wearing flannel and owns a coffee shop or runs a Christmas tree farm or is trying to stop the big firm from buying out his parents’ family business. There’s obviously chemistry, but there’s no way it would work, right?
