In true 4th of July fashion, Taylor Swift has used the holiday to declare herself as an independent woman and shared a series of party pictures.
The 33-year-old star shared snapshots on Instagram of her celebrations this year. The Instagram carousel includes pictures of her and her friends, American flag towels, polaroid photos, and a solo picture of Taylor in a blue and white, polka-dotted, off-the-shoulder dress.
Appearances were made by celebrity pals Selena Gomez and the Haim sisters, Este, Danielle, and Alana. But the real star of the post is the caption.
"Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girlies," she captioned the post with a sunglasses face emoji.
This cheeky caption is Taylor's way of letting her fans know that she is independent and single among rumours of a relationship between her and The 1975 lead singer Matty Healy.
Matty and Taylor were seen together multiple times in a short time, with rumours that he stayed over at her New York apartment when they were seen leaving a recording studio in the city.
But as quickly as the rumoured romance came it was gone, and within a month sources claimed that the duo are 'no longer in contact.'
The Haim sisters posted the same photos on their Instagram, sans the solo picture of Taylor, and captioned it "single summer," subtly emphasising Taylor's caption about being on her own.
Taylor also added to her caption: "See you tonight Kansas Cityyy." Taylor is in the middle of her Eras tour across the United States, but the tour officially ends in August 2024 at Wembley Stadium. The comments on her photo are turned off.
The same day as her belated 4th of July post, released her album Speak Now (Taylor's Version), the re-release of her 2010 best-seller. The re-release contained new songs featuring Fall Out Boy and Hayley Williams of Paramore. Taylor also changed the controversial lyrics to Better Than Revenge.
But her love life has also been in the news recently after she broke up with her long-time boyfriend actor Joe Alwyn after they dated for six years.
Joe was a collaborator with Taylor on many of her albums, and their break up had fans theorising that some break-up songs off Taylor's latest album Midnights were about him.
The rumours grew when attendees of Taylor's tour at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey received special edition Midnights albums that had an unreleased song "You're Losing Me," which featured the lyrics "I wouldn't marry me either/a pathological people pleaser."
