Taylor Swift fans convinced singer explains reason for Joe Alwyn split in new song

Taylor Swift fans think that the American singer has revealed the cause of her split from Joe Alwyn in her new song.

The global superstar, 33, dropped a brand new single on Friday, entitled You're Losing Me.

And after having a listen, fans convinced that the lyrics provide an insight into the breakdown of Swift's six-year-long relationship with Joe Alwyn.

In April this year it was reported that Taylor and Joe, 32, had parted ways – which came as the singer embarked on her sold-out The Eras Tour.

The alleged split, which has not been confirmed nor denied, left fans in denial with many not wanting to believe the reports.

But now fans are convinced that Taylor and Joe are over, with her latest track seemingly goes into detail surrounding the reasons for the couple's break up.

The new track You're Losing Me contains lyrics which appear to reference a break-up, including: "My face was grey but you wouldn't admit that we were sick."

As well as: "Stop, you're losing me / I can't find a pulse, my heart won't start anymore / For you / Cause you're losing me."

But it's the bridge that has really left fans completely taken aback.

In the heart-wrenching new song, Taylor touches upon the topic of marriage – something she has done in past tracks like Champagne Problems and Lavender Laze.

The bridge of You're Losing Me goes: "How long could we be a sad song / 'Til we were too far gone to bring back to life? / I gave you all my best me's, my endless empathy / And all I did was bleed as I tried to be the bravest soldier / Fighting in only your army, frontlines, don't you ignore me / I'm the best thing at this party (You're losing me)."

It then gets even more emotional when she admits: "And I wouldn't marry me either / A pathological people pleaser / Who only wanted you to see her."

And fans are convinced that this explains how Taylor and Joe's relationship came to an abrupt end – with Swifties believeing that Taylor wanted to get married, but Joe "never proposed".

Taking to Twitter after the song emerged online, one fan theorised: "Taylor clearly wanted to marry Joe but he never proposed and she had to go through years of engagement and secret marriage rumors."

"This new song makes me think that it was Joe who didn’t want to marry Taylor but Taylor wanted to marry him," added another.

A third person went on to add: "We all thought it was Joe who wanted to marry and settle down and Taylor didn’t want to. But it was the other way around. TAYLOR wanted to take their relationship to the next step, JOE was comfortable where they were at and didn’t understand why she wasn’t."

While a fourth said: "Taylor has said that she didn't wanna marry Joe but 'I wouldn't marry me either' implies that she wanted to marry this person but they didn't wanna marry her. It's devastating."

But a fifth then said: "So everyone is furious at Joe for not wanting to marry Taylor but y’all have to keep in mind that they wanted different things in life. it’s a very common reason for breakups. The unfortunate thing is that they only discovered this after 6 years of dating. We don’t know his side."
