Taylor Swift fan who secured Eras tour tickets explains how to maximise chances on Ticketmaster

Multi-award-winning pop sensation Taylor Swift announced the highly anticipated European leg of her renowned Eras Tour last night, sending fans into a frenzy.

Swifties are now gearing up to secure their coveted tickets to witness the spectacular live performances that have become synonymous with the global superstar. With an unrivalled fan base and a reputation - pardon the pun - for electrifying shows, Taylor Swift concerts are known to sell out within minutes, and music fans are sure to be scrambling to get their hands on those elusive tickets when they go on presale in July.

As part of the tour, the Shake It Off singer will be making two stops at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium next June, as well as gigs in London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and London throughout the summer.

Taylor will bring her Eras tour to Anfield on June 14 and 15, 2024, and fans must register for pre-sale. You can find out more about how to do that here.

As fans gear up for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, one seasoned Swiftie has been hailed a ‘hero’ after sharing a series of top tips on how to secure tickets for what will undoubtedly be an unforgettable experience.

Posting to Twitter, Marie (@marieeldrid) described how she ‘fought in the Battle of Ticketmaster’ back in November 2022 to secure MetLife tickets for the Eras Tour in the US - and ‘won’, and offered up tips to equip fellow Swifties with the necessary tools to navigate the ticket-buying process and secure their spot on the tour.

The thread quickly went viral, racking up more than 1.6 million views, with ticket holder hopefuls thanking her for ‘doing the Lord’s work’.

Set up an account

Sharing her tips, Marie started with the basics: “Make sure your Ticketmaster (or Eventim, SeeTickets etc) account is complete with all your info before the sale. Add your card details in advance, ideally more than one card! Set up a PayPal just in case (my card payment didn’t work, so PayPal saved me).

“Note that some of the shows (like Germany, Poland, Austria, some others) aren’t sold through Ticketmaster, so it might be easier getting tickets for those if you live nearby or happy to travel internationally.”

Multiple tab myth

Previously, it’s been thought that having multiple tabs or devices will increase your ticket-bagging successes, but Marie says that’s not the case for the Eras tour. She added: “When tickets go on sale, DO NOT open the page on multiple devices or windows. For the USA presale, we could only use one device & one page. If you wanna do multiple, you need multiple TM accounts with different emails.”

Set a budget

She also advised fans to decide in advance what’s the most you’re willing to spend on tickets, commenting: “Make sure you have that sum on your account, as the prices and extra fees might be more than you expect. When I got through the queue, I had to choose between $800 VIP seats and nosebleeds, which were still overpriced.”

The queue

Then when it comes to navigating the queue, Marie recommends being online and logged in at least 5-10 minutes before the sale starts. “You CANNOT be late,” she warned. “Or else you’ll be in the end of a queue with tens of thousands of people. You need to get in as early as possible.”

Some dates will be more in demand than others, and Marie suggests that London and Paris will be the busiest, ‘but you’re likely to have to wait everywhere’, adding: “I had to wait over 2 hours. The website might crash, too. Try not to refresh the page if you can and make sure your internet connection is stable that day.

“The goal is to see an actual number in the queue and not “2000+ people” ahead of you. Fun fact: if you pull up the page code, you can see the competition. I was behind 15.000+ ppl. But once you see an actual number, you’ll be on the ticket page in a few minutes."

Speed is key

“Once you get to the sale page, you have to be FAST!" She said, "No time to think, just grab the first tickets you can afford and run to the check out. Getting your hands on the tickets for the popular dates from resellers will be hard, so you really want to succeed during the official sale!

“If you’re flexible about which dates you can attend, try to figure out which ones will have less demand. As I said, Paris and London will be hell. Madrid too. But Stockholm, Warsaw or Vienna might be less popular. So if you really want to attend the tour, try these ones instead.”

Marie signed off by wishing T-Swift fans ‘good luck’, commenting: “I hope your bank accounts are ready for this, your WiFi is strong, and your patience is stronger! Share any other tips you can think of. It’ll be pure traumatising getting these tickets but so worth it!”

She finished by saying: “And don’t get fixated on getting floor seats! There are truly no bad seats on the Eras Tour, and you’ll have a great time regardless of your spot at the stadium. You can also try to exchange them later or try your luck with @ErasTourResell.”

With a meticulous approach and the right know-how, fans could potentially increase their chances of obtaining those golden tickets, ensuring they don't miss out on witnessing Taylor Swift's three-hour performance up close.

To help tickets reach the hands of fans who want to attend the shows, there will be the opportunity to register for Taylor Swift The Eras Tour tickets ahead of them going on-sale. Registration is now open.

Fans can register on each city’s official ticket registration page here, up until Thursday, June 22 at 11:59pm (local time) in the UK, and on Friday, June 23 at 11:59pm (local time) in Ireland and Europe.
