As reported by NBC News, Rio de Janeiro’s local police have launched a probe into Time4Fun after a fan died and several others reported unbearable conditions at the concert venue during a record-breaking heatwave.
The Civil Police Department of Rio de Janeiro has initiated an investigation into the alleged “crime of endangering the life and health” of concertgoers. The department stated that the event organizers will be called in to provide testimony and other investigative steps are being taken to ascertain the facts.
Last week, Time4Fun confirmed the death of 23-year-old fan Ana Clara Benevides Machado at a Taylor Swift concert amidst the heatwave. Reportedly, the heat index at the venue reached a staggering 138 degrees Fahrenheit and fans complained about the severe heat and limited access to water.
Despite postponing her next concert due to the extreme temperatures, Swift’s investigation is not directly linked to Machado’s death, according to the department. The exact cause of Machado’s death remains unknown.
Swift’s Eras Tour has been a massive success, with her concert film breaking box office records and generating over $95 million in domestic ticket sales on its opening weekend.
