Taylor Heinicke buys his offensive line Air Jordans after win over the Eagles

A good quarterback always takes care of his offensive line.

Over the years, we’ve heard of quarterbacks buying their offensive linemen expensive watches, suits, or even gaming consoles. Washington Commanders quarterback Taylor Heinicke is doing things a little bit differently.

Buy Commanders Tickets

Heinicke, who revealed earlier this season that when the Commanders win a game with him under center, orders a pair of Air Jordans in the opposing team’s color scheme. After the win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 7, Heinicke ordered some green and yellow Jordans.

After this week’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Heinicke didn’t wait long to order his latest pair of Jordans.

Heinicke met with the media Wednesday and revealed he wasn’t the only to get new Jordans this week.

“Yeah, this might be a surprise,” Heinicke says of buying kicks for his offensive linemen. “I was trying to keep it a little surprise with O-Line, but they’ve been busting their [butt] all year, and I think they need to be compensated for that. So, I ordered some, some, some J’s for the starting off line this past week, and if they keep doing that they’ll be getting some more.”

It’s little things like this that make Heinicke beloved in the locker room. Remember, Heinicke isn’t making Patrick Mahomes or Aaron Rodgers money. Per Over the Cap, Heinicke’s cap number is $3.6 million this season, but he does receive a bonus for every Washington victory with him under center.

That’s not chump change at all, but a nice gesture considering Heinicke is still considered Washington’s backup quarterback.

So did Heinicke order his teammates the same green Jordans he ordered for himself this week?

“No, no, I can’t spend that much money, but I got ’em some cool ones that have the Eagles colors,” he joked.

Heinicke will start again in Week 11 at Houston. He is 3-1 as the starting quarterback this season.
