The arrests of the Tate brothers and two Romanian citizens took place in December 2022, with formal indictments in June 2023 on charges of human trafficking, rape, and setting up a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. The accused deny these allegations.
According to Romanian prosecutors, the Tate brothers allegedly seduced victims by falsely promising relationships or marriage. The lead counsel for the Tate brothers, Eugen Vidineac, criticized the judge's ruling, stating it 'lacks legal basis and reasoning,' and mentioned that a strong appeal has been filed.
Similarly, Adrian Sandulescu, the attorney for the other two suspects, argued that the decision is 'unlawful and without foundation.'
