KOLKATA: It's difficult to keep seasoned campaigners down for long. Grandmasters D Harika and Koneru Humpy proved just that as India's top two women players bounced back in the blitz section of the Tata Steel Chess India tournament after a not-so-good rapid tournament at the Bhasha Bhawan in the National Library of India campus on Sunday.
Both the players prevailed over the rapid section champion Women's GM Divya Deshmukh in this 18-round double round robin blitz tournament. While Humpy made a good start holding women's World champion Ju Wenjun, Harika began with a hat-trick of wins beating Divya, GM Nino Batsiashvili and WIM Savitha Shri in the first three rounds of the day.
