The Tata Sierra has just become more interesting for SUV buyers. Tata Motors has launched the Sierra Legend Series, adding a new set of variants that brings several premium features further down the range. Prices start at ₹11.99 lakh ex-showroom, making the new lineup ₹50,000 above the regular Smart+ in its entry version.
But the price is not the biggest story here.
The real change is what Tata has done with the features. Several items previously available only on higher Sierra variants have now moved into lower and mid-spec versions. So, what exactly has changed, and which version gets the most interesting upgrades?

Tata Motors has introduced the Legend Series as a new layer within the Sierra range. The lineup includes Smart+ L, Pure L, Pure L(O), Pure+ L and Adventure+ L, with 18 variants spread across these five trim levels. All Legend Series versions carry an “L” suffix. The idea is straightforward: bring selected premium features from higher versions into more affordable trims. This gives buyers another choice between the regular Sierra variants and the more feature-rich Legend Series. Prices for the new versions start at ₹11.99 lakh and go up to ₹19.49 lakh ex-showroom, depending on the engine and transmission.

The entry-level Smart+ L is where the Legend Series story begins. Compared with the standard Smart+, it adds features such as leatherette seats and interior trim, auto-folding ORVMs, steering-mounted controls and roof rails. The starting price is ₹11.99 lakh for the petrol-manual version, while the diesel-manual starts at ₹13.49 lakh. This means buyers who want a more premium-looking cabin without immediately moving to a higher regular trim now have another option. The changes may look small individually, but together they make the entry version feel more complete.
Pure L Gets a Bigger Upgrade
Move up to the Pure L, and the feature list becomes considerably longer. It gets a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear camera, an eight-speaker audio system, cruise control, tyre-pressure monitoring and 17-inch alloy wheels. Prices begin at ₹13.79 lakh for the petrol-manual version and ₹15.24 lakh for the diesel-manual version. The Pure L is therefore aimed at buyers who want more technology and convenience without moving all the way into the upper Sierra range. For many buyers, this middle position could be more important than the headline starting price.
The Pure L(O) Adds a Panoramic Touch
The Pure L(O) sits above the Pure L and adds a few features that can noticeably change the cabin experience. It gets a panoramic sunroof, automatic headlamps and rain-sensing wipers over the Pure L. Prices start at ₹14.29 lakh for the petrol-manual version and ₹15.74 lakh for the diesel-manual version. The petrol DCT is priced at ₹15.59 lakh, while the diesel automatic comes in at ₹16.99 lakh. For buyers who specifically want the sunroof and extra convenience features, this variant creates a new middle ground within the Sierra range.
Pure+ L Brings Premium Comfort
One of the biggest upgrades arrives with the Pure+ L. This variant gets ventilated front seats, a six-way powered driver's seat, dual-zone climate control, manual Boss Mode, a thigh-support extender and a full leatherette interior. These are features that were previously associated with much higher Sierra versions. The Pure+ L starts at ₹14.99 lakh for the petrol-manual version and ₹16.44 lakh for the diesel-manual version. It also becomes the entry point for Sierra's 160hp 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol automatic powertrain within the Legend Series.
Adventure+ L Gets the Tech Treatment
At the top of the Legend Series is the Adventure+ L, which brings an even longer equipment list. It includes a 360-degree camera, frequency-dependent dampers, terrain modes, dual 12.3-inch screens, front parking sensors, reclining rear seats, ambient lighting, a cooled glove box and wireless charging. Prices range from ₹16.99 lakh for the petrol-manual to ₹19.49 lakh for the diesel automatic. The turbo-petrol automatic is priced at ₹18.99 lakh. This version essentially pushes several premium cabin and technology features into a lower price point than some of the Sierra's previous top-spec configurations.
The Bigger Story Behind Legend
The Sierra Legend Series is less about changing the SUV itself and more about changing where its features sit in the lineup. The engines and most powertrain choices remain familiar, while Tata has moved several comfort and technology features into lower and mid-level variants. For buyers, the key step now is to compare the regular Sierra and Legend Series versions at similar prices rather than looking only at the starting figure. The ₹11.99 lakh headline may attract attention, but the real story is the additional equipment available as you move through the new L-badged variants.
