Tata Motors CV Q1 Results: Net profit soars 83% YoY to Rs 2,560 cr on one-time gain from Tata Capital; revenue jumps 19%

Commercial vehicle major Tata Motors CV on Wednesday reported a net profit of Rs 2,560 in the first quarter of financial year 2027, marking a jump of 83.3% from Rs 1,397 crore reported in the same period last year. The net profit is attributable to the shareholders of the company.

Tata Motors said the increase in net profit was led by mark to market gain on investments in Tata Capital.

The company’s revenue from operations came in at Rs 20,667 crore, up 19% from Rs 17,324 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year, the Tata Group company said in an exchange filing post market hours.

For the quarter under review, the company’s EBITDA rose 10% to Rs 2,300 crore, while the EBITDA margin stood at 10.9%, down 90 basis points YoY. The drop in margins comes on the back of a 13% year-on-year increase in total expenses.

As of June 30, 2026, the company was net cash positive at Rs 13,500 crore. This includes TMF Holdings' gross debt, less the market value of its investments in Tata Capital Ltd.

The company reported total wholesales of 108,700 units in Q1 FY27, up 26% year-on-year. Domestic volumes rose 26% YoY, while export volumes increased 35% YoY.

The company's overall domestic CV VAHAN market share stood at 36.8% in Q1 FY27, an improvement of 100 basis points sequentially.

Tata Motors Q1 management commentary

Girish Wagh, MD & CEO said the commercial vehicle industry remained resilient in Q1 FY27, supported by India's strong economic fundamentals, healthy fleet utilization, and sustained demand across key sectors. “Tata Motors delivered a strong quarter, with volumes growing 26% year-on-year, driven by a winning portfolio, focused market interventions, and disciplined execution. These efforts helped us strengthen customer preference and further consolidate our market position,” he added.

GV Ramanan, CFO of the company said "While commodity pressure continues to persist, we remain confident in our ability to navigate the environment through operational efficiencies, pricing discipline, and proactive supply chain management to deliver resilient margins and profitable growth,”.

Tata Motors shares came in post market hours. The stock ended nearly 2% higher at Rs 457 on the BSE.
