Nick Riewoldt, unsurprisingly, lands on a footy analogy to describe the state of play in Tasmania's push for an AFL club.
"We have played the regular season, we have played our absolute guts out," Riewoldt told AAP on Friday.
"Now, we can't think it's just going to happen come finals time."
Riewoldt feels "extremely confident but not complacent" that AFL club presidents will vote in favour of a Tasmanian team at an August meeting.
But, in footy parlance, he's wary of the Tasmanian bid getting ahead of itself.
"It's not a fait accompli that it's just going to happen," the bid taskforce member said.
"We still need the Tasmanian people to embrace this and to put their collective weight behind this final push to ensure that everything that needs to happen between now and the vote in August, happens.
"And that means the overwhelming support from those that are going to be the boots on the ground, the army behind the Tasmanian team."
Which is why the St Kilda legend was thrilled by the warm embrace Tasmanians gave their NBL franchise, the JackJumpers, during their run to a losing playoff series in their debut season.
"It's a brilliant endorsement for elite sport having a place in Tasmania," the Tasmanian-born Riewoldt said.
"It proves you can create a winning culture and environment down there and the people will get behind a professional sporting organisation.
"And for a lot of the perceived obstacles that have been put to the (AFL) taskforce - that have been debunked - here's a real life working example."
The Tasmanian taskforce launched on Fox Footy a fresh video and website as they prepare for what Riewoldt describes as their finals campaign.
And when it comes to their grand final, the August vote, Riewoldt wants the Tasmanian case to be so compelling "the presidents will have no choice but to ratify it because the case is so overwhelmingly positive".
"There's a bit to play out within that," he said.
"And there's discussions around stadia and high performance centres and all the logistics and levers the AFL would need to pull to make sure the team has an opportunity to be successful from day one.
"They have all be worked through but refined is now the word, so that by the time it gets to the presidents, they have no choice."
