Target has apologised and withdrawn a $25 (£18) children's Halloween costume after critics said its design resembled racist imagery associated with blackface and minstrel performances.

The 'Kids' Glows Under Blacklight Circus Clown Halloween Costume' showed a Black child wearing an orange-and-black outfit, black gloves and a mask with an exaggerated toothy grin. Images of the product quickly sparked outrage online.
