On Sunday, a tanker truck explosion on U.S. 290 near Giddings, Texas, left two individuals in critical condition. The incident occurred east of Giddings, approximately an hour away from Austin. Emergency response teams from various agencies swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the fire, rescue the injured, and provide necessary assistance.

Lee County EMS paramedics were prompt in their response, attending to the two critically injured victims who were subsequently transported to a hospital in Austin. The collaborative efforts of agencies such as the Giddings, Lincoln, and South Lee County fire departments, Giddings Police Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and Fayette County EMS were instrumental in addressing the aftermath of the explosion.

Following the incident, authorities took precautionary measures by blocking off the affected highway and rerouting traffic to ensure public safety.
