Tammy Abraham sends Arsenal hero Ian Wright three-word message amid transfer links

Tammy Abraham is one of many strikers to be linked with Arsenal over the last 12 months.

The Gunners were reportedly interested in the England international last summer before he eventually sealed a £36million move from Chelsea, joining Serie A side AS Roma in search of regular game time. And Abraham hasn't looked back since, netting 18 goals and providing a further four assists across all competitions.

That kind of form hasn't gone unnoticed either, with plenty of Europe's top clubs said to be keen on the 24-year-old, according to The Daily Mail. Now, he has taken to social media to tweet Gunners icon Ian Wright after the 58-year-old was impressed by Abraham's performance during Roma's 1-1 draw against Napoli on Sunday evening.

"Thanks big Unc," he said after Wright had previously tweeted the youngster's Twitter handle alongside some appreciative emojis.

It isn't the first time that Wright has hailed Abraham's performances this season. In fact, he previously claimed that the former Chelsea frontman would be the perfect fit for Mikel Arteta's side.

“Tammy Abraham. The king of Rome,” Wright said on his podcast Wrighty’s House.

"The way Tammy has gone over there, he’s lit it up. I couldn’t see Mourinho taking Tammy there and it working like it’s worked.

"This is where Mourinho baffles me, where he’s said ‘I’ve all people, I’m going to take Tammy. I’m going to take him to Roma and put him in this team’.

“I remember his first game. He was magnificent from the off.

"Everything that’s going on around him, it just feels like he’s that guy. We tried to get him, Arsenal, and when you look at how Arsenal play now, how Tammy is playing, you say to yourself, ‘Mikel [Arteta], you see the vision!’

"When it was happening you think, ‘Yeah, I could see it happening,’ because he ripped us to shreds (when he played for Chelsea).”
