Kai Havertz was once again the hero as Chelsea added the final trophy available during Roman Abramovich's reign at Stamford Bridge.
Thomas Tuchel's men were made to fight hard for the FIFA Club World Cup, however, as Brazilian side Palmeiras eyed a shock on the biggest stage.
Romelu Lukaku gave Chelsea the lead in the second half but a penalty for the underdogs saw the game reach extra time. But just as a shootout looked likely, the Blues were awarded a spot-kick of their own.
With Lukaku and Jorginho both off the field, it was left to Havertz to score the crucial goal - just as he did against Manchester City last May - sending the travelling fans behind the goal wild.
But it was not just current players celebrating. Plenty of former stars took to social media after the game to congratulate former teammates.
Didier Drogba
The Chelsea legend popped up all over the place at the match itself, but was also present on social media after the final whistle.
After Lukaku shared his post-match thoughts and a picture with the trophy, Drogba entered the comments to pile a bit more praise on the striker, replying simply with: "World Champion baby."
The Ivory Coast star has since piled more praise on Lukaku and delivered a verdict on his opening goal - a header Drogba himself would have been proud of.

Tammy Abraham
The Cobham graduate made the decision to leave Chelsea for good in the summer and he has been in impressive form in Serie A with Roma ever since.
But that does not mean he has no time for his old friends.
After the Blues secured the prize that had eluded them for so long, calling Kai Havertz a 'King' in response to the German's post-match comments and simply replying 'Trophy cabinet' with an ice-cold emoji to Mason Mount's.
Willian
Abraham was not the only former Blue in the comments of Mount's post-match activity.
Brazilian winger Willian also made his voice clear, commenting 'Yes my babie' underneath Mount's Instagram post. He also shared a blue heart with Callum Hudson-Odoi, who grabbed the assist for Lukaku's opener.
Willian left the Premier League following an unsuccessful stint with Arsenal and is now plying his trade back in his home country with Corinthians - the side that beat Chelsea to the prize back in 2012.
Pedro
The diminutive winger spent five years with Chelsea between 2015 and 2020, winning the Premier League and FA Cup alongside Cesar Azpilicueta.
And after the Blues captain got his hands on another trophy, Pedro was quick to share his praise, posting applause and flame emojis under the skipper's post-match activity.
The triumph means that Azpilicueta has now won everything there is to win at Stamford Bridge - so it is no surprise to see his compatriot congratulate him.
John Terry
The Blues' legend was part of the squad left disappointed in 2012 but he was no less excited than every current player to see Chelsea lift the trophy 10 years on.
Taking to Twitter after the game, Terry shared a photo of Azpilicueta lifting the trophy in the United Arab Emirates, along with the comment: "We've won it all."
He later shared another picture, with the player seemingly having written the same message but this time in sand.
