CHENNAI: The state police have started counselling sessions for its personnel, especially the women, striving to maintain a work-life balance.
As a part of the Anandam project (an initiative for comprehensive development of police personnel in quarters), the focus is on women police personnel. Of the 24,000 personnel in the city police, 4,821 are women. The women are undergoing a three-day counselling session in batches, attend a seminar and a family get-together.
They are being trained in self-image, self-motivation, happiness, positive emotions, managing relationship with ease, facing work challenges, time management, and yoga.
The training has been going on for two months and will continue till all women personnel are trained. A team of doctors examines the personnel about blood pressure, diabetes, uterus cancer, breast cancer and ear, nose, and throat issues.
CoP Shankar Jiwal said, “As part of the peogramme the personnel are advised on how to manage finance, time and family and strike a balance between work and home.”
The initiative was mooted at a meeting presided over by the CM at the secretariat on June 4.
