Tamil Nadu: One dead after fire breaks out at jewellery store in Madurai city

MADURAI: A 49-year-old shop employee died after a fire suddenly broke out inside a jewellery store on the usually busy South Masi Street in Tamil Nadu's Madurai city on Monday night.

According to sources, a private jewellery store, Janaki Jewellers, has been functioning on South Masi Street for years. On Monday night, a fire broke out in the shop at around 7 pm. The fire and rescue services department was immediately alerted and fire trucks and personnel from Thideer Nagar, Anuppanadi, and Tallakulam were deployed to tackle the fire.
