Tamil Nadu man accused of cheating businessman, realtors using Shobha Karandlaje’s name

BENGALURU: City police have launched a manhunt for a person who allegedly duped many people in Tamil Nadu using the name of minister Shobha Karandlaje. A complaint in this regard was filed by Karandlaje’s personal assistant Varun Aditya with Sanjaynagar police.

In his statement, Aditya identified the suspect as Prakash from Tamil Nadu. He is accused of cheating several people claiming to be a close associate of Karandlaje, Union minister of state for agriculture and farmers welfare. “For the last three months, the suspect has been cheating businessmen, realtors and estate owners of lakhs of rupees, saying he is a close associate of Shobha Kharandlaje and taking money from them. We seek legal action against the suspect who is misusing her name and designation,” the complaint read.

Police are gathering more information since the accused is active in Tamil Nadu. “We have sought more details from Aditya, including that of the victims and the money they have been cheated of. Prakash’s mobile number is active in Chennai and Ooty. Once we get more information, we shall speed up investigation. Already, a technical team is tracing him,” an officer said.
