A Dublin community has been left in shock following the sudden death of a well-known local man.
Colm Fogarty was a Tallaght native and a volunteer in the area, best known for his work with the homeless.
He was open about his addiction problems and had appeared on TV3's 'The Rehab' in 2017, which educated people on addiction issues in Ireland.
Colm died on Sunday 16 January and will be missed by his parents Trish and Gerry, son Liam, sisters Trish and Melissa, brother-in-law Brendan, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
His niece told Dublin Live that Colm was passionate about the work he did in the community.
Carly Neeson said: "Colm got into recovery and sorted himself out. His biggest hope was to get people off the streets and help the homeless."
One friend posted: "We were always guaranteed a good laugh on an adventure with Colm.
"When you were sober you saved lives helping the homeless, literally resuscitating a man who collapsed at the soup run.
Another wrote a message about his time with Colm, saying: "Back in 2018 I reached out to Colm to see if he could help a close friend of mine who was homeless and suffering with addiction.
"Colm took all my calls and messages, brought us in for tea and had sorted everything my friend needed for his recovery."
One local woman wrote: "I just can't believe this sad news, I'm still in shock pal. It was a pleasure working alongside you and the rest of the Bridges of Hope Homeless Outreach Team and other Homeless Teams."
Colm's funeral details will be announced later and a memorial page has been set up to mark the great work he did during his lifetime.
