TalkTalk completes deal to buy SSE Phone & Broadband from OVO Energy

TalkTalk has completed a deal to buy SSE Phone & Broadband from OVO Energy.

The Salford-headquartered company first announced that an agreement had been made at the start of August. It has not been revealed how much the deal is worth.

The acquisition means that all the approximately 135,000 SSE Phone & Broadband customers and supporting team will transfer from OVO Energy to TalkTalk.

In 2020, SSE Phone & Broadband was acquired by Bristol-based OVO Energy as part of its purchase of SSE Energy Services from SSE plc.

SSE, which owned SSE Phone & Broadband prior to its sale to OVO Energy in 2020, has given permission for the SSE brand to be used under licence until April 2023 to support a smooth transition to TalkTalk.

TalkTalk chief executive Tristia Harrison said: "We are delighted that we can finally welcome SSE Phone & Broadband customers and team to the TalkTalk Group.

"We are the country’s only scale affordable provider and are experts at providing connectivity to home energy customers, so we are confident our new customers and colleagues will find themselves at home with us."
