Talking Point: What would be your first purchase if you won?

Helen and Lee Kuchczynski became millionaires after their EuroMillions win

A ticket bought in the UK took the EuroMillions jackpot of £195.7 million on Tuesday, breaking the previous record win of £184 million, set just a couple of months ago.

Meanwhile, another pair of millionaires were made as their ticket matched five numbers and a Lucky Star. Helen and husband Lee Kuchczynski from Cumbria are now £3.6 million better off.

Lee, a 52-year-old lorry driver, revealed his first purchase: “I bought a new back scratcher because I snapped my other one at work so I bought an expensive one worth £17 instead of £8!”

They’ve since become homeowners for the first time, bought a new car, and Lee will have the hernia operation he wasn’t previously able to take time off work for.

He added: “It is completely overwhelming. I feel sorry for the poor person who has just won £195 million because it’s blown my mind just £3.6 million!”

According to The Sunday Times Rich List, that kind of fortune would instantly make you wealthier than the likes of Adele and Tom Jones, although they’ve had a bit longer to get used to having money in the bank to spend.
