Taliban forces shot dead two Afghan women during a search of their house in the southern province of Helmand over the weekend, a cleric and an official said on Tuesday.
Since seizing power last August, the Taliban have regularly conducted security sweeps across the country, going house-to-house looking for weapons, criminals and insurgents opposing the hardline Islamist regime.
