A talented young singer from Co Fermanagh has written and released a new song which is encouraging young girls to ‘be themselves’.
8-year-old Hollie McMenamin from Kesh recorded the song called ‘I am me’ with the help of her music teacher David Doonan from Drumquin.
Hollie’s mum Mandy says the Kesh Primary School student starred in a local musical production and has been spurred on to create her own music since.,

“Hollie wrote the song herself, she was in a local production of Annie at the Ardhowen Theatre and she just thought it was fantastic and wanted to do more of it,” Mandy said.
“We met David from the Sound Garden in Drumquin and he suggested Hollie should write a song because she had so many great ideas.
“That’s what they did together and David helped her record it in his studio.
“She wanted to do it just to make people feel good, especially other little girls.
“The song is really about encouraging girls to be anyone or anything that they want to be, and to always be kind when you’re doing that.
“Hollie is a very kind wee girl, she is very shy but this has definitely brought her out of her shell a wee bit.
“What she really wanted to get across is that no matter where you are from there is more out there for you if you want to try it.”
Hollie is also signed up with a talent agency for acting and modelling, and her mum says she has plans to make it big one day with one of her many talents.
“She has been doing a few auditions and things like that so she is just hoping for a break to come through that.
“I think her dream at the minute is to get the song on the radio but we might be a bit away from that yet!
“Everyone in the local community has been so supportive and all her schoolfriends have just loved it.
“She feels fabulous and she’s really excited about writing more songs, so hopefully that will be ready in the next few months.”
