A key route used by loads of motorists in Bristol has closed today for five months. Talbot Road in Brislington has closed from Monday, February 14 until an estimated June 26 to allow gas main upgrade works to take place.
The stretch of Talbot Road that runs from Lodway Road to Priory Road will be closed to all motorists for the five-month period as important works take place.
Motorists are being forced to divert around the road closure which means heading onto one of Bristol's busiest commuting routes.

The diversion route takes motorists onto the A4174, past the Lidl and onto the A4 Bath Road which is notoriously known for gridlocked traffic throughout the day.
The traffic lights leading onto the A4 Bath Road are often queued back and this new road closure now means motorists that used to join on the key road via Talbot Road, will now have to do so via the A4174.
The 513/514 bus route is also set to be disrupted as it runs along Talbot Road. However, Stagecoach West are yet to issue any service updates on its website.
The notice of intent was issued by Bristol City Council for a period of 18 months. However, the works are only anticipated to last until June 26, 2022, and closure may not be implemented for the entirety of the gas main upgrade works.
