Arsenal star Takehiro Tomiyasu has admitted that he would hate to come up against teammate Gabriel Martinelli as part of an opposition team. It comes after a a breakout campaign so far for the Brazilian, who has begun to add end product to his already tricky skillset.
The 21-year-old has managed nine goal involvements in 19 Premier League appearances so far this season, making the left-wing position his own. It then comes as a major boost that football.london understands that Martinelli has agreed a new contract that will take his stay until 2027.
“What he deserves is clear, his hunger, his determination, his love for this game and you don’t know where he is going to reach," Mikel Arteta said earlier this season in praise of the forward's performances. "He’s always asking and willing for more.”

A call-up for the Brazil national team in a highly competitive squad for the World Cup has shown his progression and that there's even more to come. It was also Martinelli that was picked out as the one player Tomiyasu would hate to face, having come up against him many times in training.
When asked by GOAL about which player is the toughest to face in training, he said: "Gabriel Martinelli, he never stops. He has pace, aggression. He’s still young, but when he has the ball he wants to make the difference, he wants to do something.”
It remains to be seen exactly how far the winger can go in his career, with his peak still well ahead of him for years to come. However, his recent contributions suggest he could be a big player for both club and country if he continues his current trajectory.
