Take That fans were thrilled to see the popular nineties boy band on stage at the Coronation Concert on Sunday, May 7. Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen joined forces at Windsor Castle to commemorate the new King and Queen.
In its early days the band also included Robbie Williams and Jason Orange, who both left the band in 1995 and 2014 respectively. At the highly anticipated BBC Coronation performance, neither Robbie nor Jason were anywhere to be seen as they sang hits, Shine, Greatest Day and Never Forget.
Instead, Gary, Howard and Mark were joined on stage by Britain’s Got Talent star Calum Scott, who found fame on the ITV show in 2015. For the latest TV and showbiz news sign up to our newsletter here.
The last time Take That performed as a full five-piece was back in 2011 for their Progress tour, it saw the full lineup for the first time in 16 years. Jason left in 2014 and was said to not want to tour or record music any more.
Over on social media people were not happy that Calum appeared instead of Jason. One person wrote: "Now would be a great time to bring Jason on guys!!!"
A second person added: "All we need now is Jason and Robbie." And a third said: “That’s only half the band! Where’s Jason and Robbie?”
Not everyone was upset, though, and some fans loved the performance with or without the full lineup. “Take That don’t need Robbie Williams, they never did. It’s a shame Jason Orange is no longer part of the group but those 3 are fabulous anyway. Great performance and they come across as genuinely nice guys," one person said.
