Former Lover Island presenter Laura Whitmore also paid her respects.

The Bray native said: “Thinking of you all at this time. Mark was one of the nicest and most talented men you could meet.”

Mrs. Brown’s Boys also said: “We were so privileged to have worked with Mark Sheehan on our movie and TV show, our sincere condolences to your family & friends you are truly loved and will be missed by millions, sleep tight brother.”

Sheehan, who was originally from Dublin's Liberties, was the lead guitarist in the band that formed in the early 2000s in the capital.

Along with lead singer O'Donoghue and drummer Glen Power, they relocated to London to pursue their musical career.

Success followed in 2008 with their debut album The Script reaching No1 in the UK and Ireland, helped by the popularity of singles such as Breakeven.

O'Donoghue and Sheehan have been friends since their school days and pursued various musical projects together before settling on The Script.

Representatives for The Script refused to release details or any more information surrounding Mark’s funeral.
