Prime Minister Rishi Sunak this week relaunched his plan to make maths compulsory for pupils up to 18 years old.
At a relaunch event in a London academy, the PM blamed an 'anti-maths mindset' for holding back the British economy. And he said that numeracy is just as important as literacy.
Mr Sunak added: “If we are going to grow the economy not just over the next two years, but the next 20, we simply cannot allow poor numeracy to cost our economy tens of billions a year or to leave people twice as likely to be unemployed as those with competent numeracy.”
