Taiga Is Back With New All-Electric Snowmobiles

Despite electric vehicles being around for over 100 years, their adoption really didn't take off until recent memory. And even then, it hasn't been the whirlwind love affair that many techno-futurists would've liked. Even more mass-adopted cars and trucks have seen harsh headwinds, but the powersports community has seen far stiffer opposition.

We've had a host of electric vehicle manufacturers in the space rise, fall, and disappear without a trace. In the past few months, it's been especially hard on this specific niche of the industry, as folks like Energica, Damon, and more have all gone the way of the dodo. Thankfully, Energica has returned, as has one name that endeavored to make the snowy backcountry and sunny shores all that much more silent.

I'm, of course, talking about Taiga, as the company went into administration and subsequently returned with new owners and a new lease on life. Fast forward a couple months, and it's not only introducing new model year snowmobiles, but it's expanding its lineup, too.

The expansion comes with the brand's Nomad snowmobile, which now separates itself into three distinct machines: the Nomad Pro, Nomad Performance, and Nomad Scout.

According to the company, first up is the Nomad Pro, which is designed to be a commercial snowmobile, i.e., specifically for tour operators and the like. Coming standard with a 60kW battery pack, the Nomad Pro is "purpose-built for ski patrol, fleet operators, tour companies, and utility applications." This model was supposedly "refined from real-world usage" and updated to suit these needs after customer feedback. It features more regenerative braking, while also including "geofencing, speed limiting, and remote fleet control built in," so no one falls off a cliff or speeds into a no-go zone.

Then you get the Nomad Performance, which features the brand's 120kW drive unit and which supposedly will beat "Any gas snowmobile in a drag race," which yeah, that's makes sense. There's also an updated suspension for those who want to go around a corner without dying.

Lastly, there's the Nomad Scout, and while it utilizes the Performance's 120kW drive unit, it got new, deeper lugs, better rear suspension, a narrower front track, and can be outfitted with Elka shocks, an integrated ski and snowboard mount, and was designed to be "the lightest and most capable" of the three snowmobiles.

Per the brand, "EV cars have reached 50% market share for the first time in 2025 in the EU. Yet in the off-road segment, where conserving access to pristine wilderness matters most, the gap between gas and electric has remained stubbornly wide. The MY27 Nomad is the moment that changes."

The three are now available for pre-order, with deliveries yet to be stated, but feature pretty prices that aren't out of the realm of reality, though they are on the steeper side of things. According to Taiga, the Nomad Pro starts at $19,499, with the Nomad Performance coming in at $21,999, and the Nomad Scout at $22,249. But what do you all think? Are you ready to shred the backcountry or trails silently with one of these machines? Are you ready to close that gap that Taiga says is "stubbornly wide?"
