Taco Bell Says Goodbye to a Fan Favorite

Taco Bell (YUM) likes to keep its customers on their toes by constantly changing up the menu. This means that one day Taco Bell might be serving up your favorite menu item, and tomorrow it might be pulled from the menu to make room for something new.

While it can be disheartening, it also gives a chance for the movement of the menu to keep things fresh. One minute Taco Bell is testing out a new menu item, its on the menu nationwide and the poof, it's gone.

Taco Bell takes its fans serious though, while it might not always listen to their pleas. Recently the Mexican fast-food chain even did a poll to see which of two menu items it should bring back, the Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos or the Beefy Crunch Burrito.

The Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco, which was removed from the menu in 2019, is a hardshell taco flavored with that famous Doritos Cool Ranch seasoning, seasoned beef, lettuce and shredded cheese. The Beefy Crunch Burrito, which was removed from the menu in 2013, is a soft burrito tortilla served up with seasoned beef, Fritos Flamin' Hot Corn Chips, sour cream, seasoned rice, and nacho cheese sauce. Fans on social media get to decide which makes a comeback, with votes ending on April 12.

Taco Bell Says Hello and Good-bye

While Taco Bell fans are busy placing their votes for which discontinued menu item makes a comeback, Taco Bell is removing the Quesarito from its menu, possibly just to make room on the menu for the undecided discontinued menu item return, or just to create a stir with its customers. The Quesarito will come off the menus nationwide on April 19.

The Quesarito is a blend between the burrito and quesadilla with the outside of a quesadilla and the inside of a burrito. The cheese filled tortilla is wrapped tightly around the seasoned beef, seasoned rice, cheese sauce and sour cream, the perfect roll up snack for the indecisive Taco Bell fan. The Quesarito without any customization is $4.49, but with most any menu item, customer choices can be added on like beans, chicken, nacho cheese sauce, black beans, jalapenos, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, plus extra sauces like avocado ranch, guacamole, red sauce, spicy ranch and creamy jalapeno sauce.

Taco Bell is removing the Quesarito after it and two other old favorites, the Bacon Club Chalupa, the Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito came back on the menu in March. The Bacon Club Chalupa is a like a bacon club sandwich, but it's served up in a flaky, chewy shell with chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado ranch sauce and cheese. The Bacon Club Chalupa is $3.49. The Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito is an overstuffed version of a steak burrito, it has double the steak, cheese sauce, rice, chipotle sauce, sour cream, shredded cheese and fiesta strips. The Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito is $4.99.

Taco Bell Testing New Menu Items

It should come as no surprise that Taco Bell is testing a new menu item as it has its every revolving door on its menu items. It started testing for a new Cheesy Chicken Crispanada. Taco Bell is testing this new menu item in Knoxville, Tenn., market according to Chew Boom. It's the Taco Bell version of the South American pastry, the empanada.

Taco Bell is also testing Double Stacked Tacos in the Birmingham, Ala., market. The Double Stacked Taco consists of a hard-shell taco served with seasoned beef, lettuce, cheese, surrounded with cheese sauce and covered up with a soft-shell taco, hence the name double stack. The Double Stacked Tacos will come for $2 with a choice of two different sauces, Sweet Scorpion or Chipotle Cheese sauce and a third option Nacho Crunch served with Fiesta Strips.
