The editorial section of The Yomiuri Shimbun's Otekomachi website, The Yomiuri Shimbun Osaka and Hiroshima Television Corp. jointly staged a symposium about how to promote women's activities in local communities on Friday in Higashi Ward, Hiroshima City.

The symposium, held ahead of International Women's Day on March 8 with the main theme of "designing your life," took place at Hiroshima TV Hall. The symposium was streamed online because of infection-prevention precautions.

The Otekomachi site is dedicated to providing various information for women. The Yomiuri Shimbun Osaka and Hiroshima Television planned the symposium to celebrate their 70th year of publication and 60th year of broadcasting, respectively.

Ryu Koshino, former leader of the Takarazuka Revue's Moon troupe, gave the keynote lecture, in which she talked about her experiences in exercising leadership for nearly 90 members of the all-female performing troupe.

"[A true leader] is a person who talks about an exciting future, not about the past," Koshino said, describing her image of an ideal leader.
